Volunteer Spotlight: Rebekah
Schooling/Occupation:
I will graduate from Liberty University in May with a degree in Elementary and Special Education.
Hobbies:
kayaking, hammocking, anything outside and with friends :)
Favorite UMA memory:
We took the younger girls backpacking for their first time and they did so great! We hiked for 2 miles, taking breaks to play in the creek along the way. I was expecting them to complain, but they had great attitudes the whole time. Once we got to the campsite, the girls learned to do things like start a fire, get water from the creek using a purifier, and boil water. They played in the creek the majority of the time there, and the fact that it was freezing didn't phase them at all!
Another favorite memory is the time we had a fancy tea party at Mrs. Laura's house and afterwards had a snowball fight in our dresses and sandals.
Favorite thing about working with UMA youth:
I love being able to invest in the same girls on a weekly basis and to see them challenge themselves both spiritually and physically as we learn new memory verses and go on exciting trips.
Favorite Bible verse:
My lips will glorify You because Your faithful love is better than life. So I will praise You as long as I live; at Your name, I will lift up my hands. Psalm 63:3-4
UMA would definitely not be who we are today without the help and love of volunteers like Rebekah. The girls know they are loved by her and our staff is so thankful for her faithfulness and dedication to our mission! We thank the Lord for you!
